ASU Rambelles Put Win Streak to the Test Thursday
SAN ANGELO, TX — The Angelo State University women’s basketball team has one game on its immediate schedule, a Lone Star Conference road rematch against the University of Texas Permian Basin on Thursday in Odessa.

Last time out, ASU completed a season sweep of Texas A&M-Kingsville, opening the series with a narrow two-point home win before pulling away for a 69-48 victory on the road.
Landry Morrow led all scorers in Saturday’s matinee with 19 points, shooting 7 of 9 from the field and 5 of 7 from 3-point range. Halle Hughes reached double figures for the first time in her collegiate career with 13 points, while Majik Esquivel and Keniah Williams also scored in double figures.

Thursday’s matchup comes just 16 days after the teams last met at the Junell Center–Stephens Arena, where UT Permian Basin shot better than 50 percent from the field and nearly 48 percent from 3-point range in a road win.
The Falcons enter the game 11-8 overall and 6-5 in Lone Star Conference play. UT Permian Basin is riding a two-game losing streak following a home loss to UT Dallas and a road defeat at Texas A&M International.
Offensively, the Falcons average 61.3 points per game while shooting 42.3 percent from the field, 29.1 percent from beyond the arc and 71.3 percent from the free-throw line. Kenadi Rising leads the team at 10.6 points per game, with Mikalah Buckley contributing eight points per game off the bench.
Defensively, UTPB allows 58.8 points per game and holds opponents to 36.4 percent shooting. The Falcons average 32.4 rebounds per game, led by Rising at 4.9 per contest.
Season Notes
Majik Esquivel leads Angelo State in scoring at 16.8 points per game, the second-highest average in the Lone Star Conference.
Esquivel, Taylor Grona, Landry Morrow and Tristin Keller have combined for 102 steals this season.
Senior center Keniah Williams has recorded three double-doubles this season and 16 in her collegiate career.
Angelo State ranks among the conference leaders in blocked shots per game (4.3), defensive field-goal percentage (35.8), offensive rebounds per game (13.7) and total rebounds per game (38.8).
