COVER1 Pre-Game Show: The Bi-District Playoffs are Here!

ALPINE VS BRADY AT 7 P.M. ON 11/10 (BIG LAKE)

RYAN CHADWICK - Despite a rocky finish to the district season, the Brady Bulldogs survived and secured a playoff spot. The Bulldogs make the trip out to Big Lake on Friday night to play Alpine. Brady comes into this matchup healthier than they have been in a while, and we might see a great one against the Bucks tonight. Alpine will not be an easy hurdle to clear, however, as they have quality wins on their schedule. To win this game, Brady must take care of the football. If the Bulldogs turn it over, they can kiss a bi-district championship goodbye. PICK: BRADY 28 ALPINE 21

JAMES BOULIGNY - This should be a pretty good game. Brady is getting back Bash, or Daryl Adair, who was sick last week. Turnovers have been an issue for Sean Jacoby, the Bulldogs quarterback. But the defense has flown around the field and kept the Dogs in some games. It’ll be tight, but Brady wins under first-year head coach Jaron Roberts. PICK: BRADY 21 - ALPINE 17

MATT CUTRER - PICK: ALPINE 44 BRADY 8

MATT TRAMMELL - PICK: ALPINE

OTHER PICKS: SCOTT MENCHACA - BRADY  | ERNESTO RODRIGUEZ - BRADY  | YANTIS GREEN - ALPINE | KIMBERLY MAJANO - ALPINE

TORNILLO @ WALL (7-2) AT 6 P.M. ON 11/10

CHADWICK - It’s an exciting week for the Wall Hawks, as they have the opportunity to host a playoff game. Head coach Houston Guy said that this game almost did not even happen, but his boys are ready to go. Tornillo does not have a win this season. This matchup will be tough for the Coyotes, but a playoff game is still a playoff game. The Hawks need to show up, take care of business, and stay healthy. PICK: WALL 55 TORNILLO 0

CUTRER - PICK: WALL 67 TORNILLO 7

BOULIGNY - This one should be over by halftime with Wall up big even if they put in the J.V. The Hawks need to keep their routine and expect a run-heavy attack unless Wall wants to work on some things for the next round. PICK: WALL 70 - TORNILLO 7

TRAMMELL - PICK: WALL

OTHER PICKS: MENCHACA - WALL | RODRIGUEZ - WALL | GREEN - WALL | MAJANO - WALL

TLCA VS CRANE AT 7 P.M. ON 11/10 (ROSCOE)

BOULIGNY -  The TLCA San Angelo Eagles are riding high after getting into the playoffs again after all the drama that filled the beginning of the season. Layne Honea needs to connect with Jaidden Villanueva and Luis Castillo and lean on Natavian Sykes and Jeremiah Bullingor in the run game. Crane is hard to get a read on as they played their district twice but lost to Kermit and Reagan County but beat McCamey to start the season. With Honea and the offense, this Eagles team wins.

PICK: TLCA 35 - CRANE 24

CHADWICK -  The Eagles played Crane in the first round of the playoffs last season. That game ended on the uglier side in Crane's favor. However, this is not the same TLCA team that played the Cranes a year ago. TLCA can be extremely dangerous on offense if you let their playmakers get out in space. QB Layne Honea is also dangerous with the football if you give the young man time in the pocket. Crane went undefeated in a district that wasn’t much to brag about, but these guys can still play ball. I’m rolling with the Eagles in this one. PICK: TLCA 49 CRANE 42

CUTRER - PICK: CRANE 21 TLCA 20

TRAMMELL - PICK: TLCA

OTHER PICKS: MENCHACA - CRANE | RODRIGUEZ - CRANE | GREEN - CRANE | MAJANO - CRANE

OZONA VS CISCO AT 7 P.M. ON 11/10 (COLORADO CITY)

BOULIGNY - Ozona has not gotten a lot of love, but signal caller Hudson Fowler has thrown for over 2,000 yards, and sophomore Christian Villareal has rushed for over 1,000 yards. They’ve also only lost to one in the district, the Sonora Broncos.

PICK: OZONA 28 - CISCO 24

CHADWICK - Ozona has quietly put together an incredibly successful season in 2023. The Lions haven’t received as much notoriety as some other teams despite its 4-1 District record. Finishing behind the Sonora Broncos in the district probably had a lot to do with that, but no one should be surprised with Ozona takes home a Bi-District Championship. I have Ozona in this one. PICK: OZONA 35 CISCO 28

CUTRER - PICK: OZONA 35 CISCO 14

TRAMMELL - PICK: CISCOv

OTHER PICKS: MENCHACA - OZONA | RODRIGUEZ - CISCO | GREEN - OZONA | MAJANO - CISCO |

MAY VS IRION COUNTY AT 7 P.M. ON 11/3 (ROBERT LEE)

BOULIGNY - The Warriors Three of Colton Lawdermilk, Parker Posey, and Wyatt Morris will make it a game against the May Tigers. The Tigers are 2-1 over the Hornets in round one, but the Hornets won last game. Watch out for Olivan on the Hornet’s defense.

PICK: IRION COUNTY 88 - MAY 82

CHADWICK - Another year and another shootout. Irion County returns to the playoffs after graduating half its offense from a season ago with another district title in tow. Last season, these two teams dueled down to the wire, and I expect to see anything different in 2023. Irion County’s run game seems unstoppable at this point, and this game might come down to who has the ball last. I’m rolling with the Hornets. PICK: IRION COUNTY 74 MAY 72

CUTRER - PICK: MAY 56 IRION COUNTY 42

TRAMMEL - IRION COUNTY

OTHER PICKS: MENCHACA - IRION COUNTY | RODRIGUEZ - IRION COUNTY | GREEN - IRION COUNTY | MAJANO - MAY |
