Bulldogs Win District Opener But Have Another Tough Test in the Longhorns

BRADY— The Brady Bulldogs got district started off the right way with a huge win over the TLCA San Angelo Eagles.

Brady ended their pre-district schedule and had a bye week before starting district play against the TLCA San Angelo Eagles. The Bulldogs dropped three straight games to start the season when they played a gauntlet of Comanche, Mason, and Coleman. Then, the Bulldogs got a win over the Dublin Lions before dropping their fifth game to the Christoval Cougars, although, many starters were injured.

After the bye and against the Eagles, one of those players returned to the field in running back Zeke Jones

Sean Jacoby had a solid outing, going 7-11 for 112 yards and one touchdown while the Bulldog backs put in over 300 yards on the ground. Running backs Daryl Adair and Ashton Taylor each had a score and Jacoby scrambled one in as well.

Mason Airheart snagged four passes for 58 yards and one score through the air.

Gauge Evans went to work with 13 tackles and Adair followed his teammate with nine. Both of those players each had a sack as well. Sophomore defensive tackle DeMarcus Reed had an interception and a caused fumble as well.

It was a solid day for the Bulldogs who will have to continue that play against the Early Longhorns, who beat the Ballinger Bearcats, 35-0.

Early’s sophomore quarterback Rohyn Price went 15-20 for 245 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. Slowing down the Longhorn’s running back, Griffin Cheslock, who had 114 yards and three scores will be key for the Bulldogs to pull off a victory.

The Brady offense will have to be on the ball and the offensive line will have to block as the Longhorns had seven sacks against the Bearcats, including three from Dalton Adams.

The Brady Bulldogs play the Early Longhorns in Early this Friday, October 13, 2023.
