Veribest, Sterling City Volleyball to Play Regional Semifinal in San Angelo

SAN ANGELO, TX — The Top 10 showdown between the Veribest and Sterling City volleyball teams in the regional semifinals will take place in San Angelo on Tuesday.

The teams will meet at 6:30 p.m. at Central High School’s Babe Didrikson Gym with a spot in the regional final at stake.

Veribest (33-8) is ranked No. 5 in the state in Class 1A, while Sterling City (36-6) is No. 7.

The two teams met twice this season in nondistrict play, and Sterling City claimed both of them, winning five of the seven sets.

Veribest is on a 15-match winning streak, including its three playoff wins, and hasn’t dropped a set in any of those matches. The last time the Lady Falcons lost was against Sterling City on Sept. 15.

Sterling City is 15-3 in its last 18 matches — with the only losses coming against Wink (ranked No. 2 in the state in 2A Division II) and Water Valley (ranked No. 2 in the state in 1A).

The winner between Sterling City and Veribest will advance to play Water Valley or Aspermont in the regional final. The Water Valley-Aspermont match is at 6 p.m. Monday in Sweetwater.
