Cinch Roping Fiesta Begins Thursday With College Rodeo

SAN ANGELO, TX — The 73rd annual Cinch Roping Fiesta will begin in San Angelo on Thursday with Angelo State’s National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association event.

ASU’s outdoor rodeo will be held at 6 p.m. at the Fiesta Arena at the San Angelo Fairgrounds, 200 W. 43rd St.

Other colleges expected to attend include Cisco College, Tarleton State, Sul Ross State, Ranger College, Vernon College and Weatherford College.

The traditional Cinch Roping Fiesta events will begin Friday, Oct. 23, with preliminary roping at 8 a.m., followed by ladies breakaway roping at 2 p.m. Both events will be held at the 1st Community Federal Credit Union Spur Arena.

The main event of the weekend will be the match roping competition between San Angelo's Dylan Hancock and Montana's Haven Meged. Both finished in the top 10 in the world last year.
