Dallas Cowboys Offensive Struggles Continue in Loss to Green Bay

GREEN BAY, WI — Jordan Love threw a touchdown pass and rushed for another score as the Green Bay Packers defeated the Dallas Cowboys 23-13 on Sunday night at Lambeau Field.

Love completed 23 of 41 passes for 276 yards, one touchdown and one interception as Green Bay improved to 4-2 on the season.

The Packers' defense held Dallas scoreless in the first half and intercepted quarterback Dak Prescott twice to prevent potential scoring drives. Green Bay has now won three consecutive games while allowing 14 points or fewer in each contest, marking the first time the Packers have accomplished that feat since 2016.

Green Bay opened the scoring on its first possession when Love connected with Matthew Golden for a 9-yard touchdown pass. The Packers extended their lead to 17-0 by halftime, marking the first time Dallas had been held scoreless in the opening half since Nov. 7, 2021, against Denver.

Prescott completed 34 of 54 passes for 258 yards but struggled against Green Bay's defense.

Evan Williams and Brandon Cisse each recorded interceptions as Dallas moved inside Green Bay's 30-yard line on consecutive possessions.

The Cowboys fell to 2-4 with the loss.

Green Bay had several opportunities to extend its lead but struggled with dropped passes. Golden dropped a potential 43-yard touchdown pass and was unable to complete another catch on a possible 23-yard score in the second quarter. Christian Watson also dropped a potential 26-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter after the ball was deflected by Dallas defender Malachi Lawrence.

Despite the missed opportunities, Golden finished with six receptions for 104 yards and a touchdown.

Green Bay settled for field goals by Trey Smack following two of the missed touchdown opportunities.

Dallas scored late in the fourth quarter when Prescott connected with Ryan Flournoy on a 6-yard touchdown pass with 44 seconds remaining. The Cowboys attempted a two-point conversion, but Prescott's pass to CeeDee Lamb fell incomplete.

The game featured 22 penalties, with each team committing 11. Dallas was penalized for 108 yards, while Green Bay accumulated 96 penalty yards.

Dallas linebacker Dee Winters recorded the Cowboys' first interception of the season late in the first quarter, making a diving catch before returning the ball more than 40 yards for an apparent touchdown. However, a replay review determined Winters had been touched by Golden while still on the ground, eliminating the return touchdown.

The Cowboys entered the game allowing a league-high 6.4 yards per play but showed improvement defensively despite the loss.

Green Bay continued its recent success against Dallas, improving to 11-1-1 in the teams' last 13 meetings, including a tie last season in Arlington, Texas.

The Packers also await the return of three-time Pro Bowl running back Josh Jacobs, who is scheduled to come off the commissioner's exempt list Monday. Jacobs has not played this season and pleaded no contest last month to two misdemeanor charges stemming from a May altercation with his then-girlfriend.

Dallas wide receiver KaVontae Turpin left the game in the first quarter with a rib injury, while Dee Winters suffered an Achilles strain in the second quarter.

The Cowboys will travel to Philadelphia on Oct. 26, while the Packers will visit Detroit next Sunday.
