Wall, Central Tennis End Successful Seasons in Playoffs

SAN ANGELO, TX — The Concho Valley is officially out of the UIL tennis playoffs after the Central Bobcats and Wall Hawks lost their matchups this week, ending their seasons with a combined five playoff trophies.

Central traveled to Midland on Tuesday to take on El Paso Coronado in the regional quarterfinals. Despite a solid effort, the Bobcats saw their season come to an end, 11-1. Despite the loss, the Bobcats and Lady Cats claimed two playoff trophies during their successful season.

Central graduated most of its top players a season ago and had to fill those positions with young and brand-new faces in 2026. Despite the challenge, Central would go on to claim a district championship, bi-district championship, and an area championship.

Elsewhere in Abilene, Wall took on No. 3-ranked Canyon in the regional semifinals Thursday. Canyon returned to the postseason after falling in the state final a season ago, and once again proved why it was one of the top teams to beat in 4A. Canyon downed the Hawks and Lady Hawks 10-2 to advance. Unfortunately for Wall, its season came to an end, but what a success 2026 was for Wall.

This was the first year that Wall moved up to compete in 4A team tennis. The Hawks and Lady Hawks claimed a district championship, bi-district championship, area championship and regional quarterfinal championship.

Wall's postseason accolades have already arrived, and several Hawks and Lady Hawks claimed all-district honors.
