SAN ANGELO, Texas — No. 7 Angelo State returns to the road this weekend for two Lone Star Conference volleyball matches in the Dallas-Fort Worth and East Texas areas.
The Rambelles will open the weekend in Richardson against UT Dallas before traveling to Tyler to face UT Tyler on Saturday.
Angelo State is coming off a three-match homestand that ended with a sweep of Sul Ross State on Tuesday. Every active Rambelle saw action in the match, with 11 players recording kills.
Leah Klueber led Angelo State with 11 kills while hitting .421.
UT Dallas enters the weekend 7-6 overall and 3-1 in LSC play. The Comets are in the middle of a four-match homestand after opening the stretch with a three-set loss to UT Tyler on Sept. 26. UT Dallas followed with a four-set victory over St. Mary's on Sept. 30.
The Comets rank 10th in the LSC with a .181 team hitting percentage.
Jane Burkhardt leads UT Dallas with 190 kills while hitting .185. Scarlette Young has recorded 120 kills from the right side, while Laura See has 94 kills and leads the team with a .355 hitting percentage, which ranks third in the LSC.
Young also serves as the Comets' primary setter and has recorded 248 assists. Abby Gentner has added 194 assists.
Opponents are hitting .187 against UT Dallas, which ranks eighth in the conference. Avery Gray leads the Comets with 247 digs, while See and Savannah Welch have combined for 73 blocks.
UT Tyler enters the week 12-2 overall and 3-1 in conference play.
The Patriots opened the season with 13 consecutive road matches while competing in nonconference tournaments in Arkansas and beginning LSC play away from home. UT Tyler won its home opener Tuesday with a sweep of St. Edward's.
Offensively, UT Tyler ranks third in the LSC with a .244 team hitting percentage.
Melanie Merrill leads the Patriots with 118 kills while hitting .264. Maya Jones follows with 115 kills, while Autumn Perry has recorded 105. Two additional UT Tyler players are fewer than 10 kills away from reaching 100 for the season.
The Patriots run a 6-2 offense, with Riley Clinton leading the team with 261 assists. Kate Christiansen and Ava Collins have combined for another 232 assists.
UT Tyler leads the LSC defensively, holding opponents to a .123 hitting percentage. Anna Arceneaux has a team-high 222 digs, while Makhai Lewis and Kailey Manes have combined for 91 blocks.
Angelo State enters the weekend ranked No. 7 in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association Division II coaches poll released Monday.
