Dallas Loses Heartbreaker to Baltimore in Brazil

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL — Lamar Jackson needed just seven seconds to put the Baltimore Ravens in position for a win over Dallas on Sunday.

Jackson completed a 27-yard pass to Zay Flowers and called a timeout with one second remaining, setting up Tyler Loop's 56-yard field goal as time expired to give the Ravens a 34-31 victory over the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday at the Maracana.

Baltimore improved to 2-1, while Dallas fell to 1-2.

Dallas appeared to be in position to win late in regulation after Ravens cornerback Nate Wiggins was called for pass interference while covering CeeDee Lamb with 23 seconds remaining, giving the Cowboys the ball at the Baltimore 2-yard line.

After an incomplete pass, a false-start penalty moved Dallas back to the 7. The Cowboys settled for Brandon Aubrey's 23-yard field goal, tying the game at 31 with seven seconds remaining.

Jackson then found Flowers for 27 yards before quickly calling Baltimore's final timeout. Loop followed with the game-winning 56-yard field goal.

Jackson had given Baltimore a 31-28 lead with 1:30 remaining when he connected with rookie tight end Matt Hibner for a 2-yard touchdown.

Derrick Henry rushed for 89 yards and two touchdowns for Baltimore.

The Ravens led 24-13 during the third quarter before Dallas mounted its comeback.

Dak Prescott connected with Jake Ferguson for a 19-yard touchdown before finding Lamb for a two-point conversion, cutting Baltimore's lead to 24-21.

The Ravens threatened to extend the lead a few minutes later, but Henry was stopped on fourth-and-inches at the goal line when rookie linebacker Jaishawn Barham broke through the offensive line to make the tackle.

Dallas responded with a 96-yard touchdown drive highlighted by a 49-yard completion to Lamb. KaVontae Turpin capped the possession with a 9-yard touchdown run to put the Cowboys ahead 28-24 with less than 10 minutes remaining.

Baltimore's defense also made several key plays in the second half.

The Ravens forced a turnover when Ferguson fumbled a shovel pass from Prescott. Later in the third quarter, Keondre Jackson blocked Aubrey's 59-yard field-goal attempt, preserving Baltimore's 17-13 lead.

Four plays later, Jackson connected with Chris Moore for a 4-yard touchdown to extend the Ravens' advantage to 24-13.

Baltimore had scored 17 consecutive points earlier in the game to erase a slow start and take a 17-13 lead into halftime.

Henry also moved into ninth place on the NFL's career rushing list during the game. A 5-yard run early in the second quarter pushed him past Pro Football Hall of Famer Eric Dickerson, who finished his career with 13,259 rushing yards.

The game was the NFL's first at the Maracana after its previous two games in Brazil were played at Neo Quimica Arena in Sao Paulo.

Ravens tight end Mark Andrews left during the first half with a hand injury but later returned.

Dallas safety Jalen Thompson left in the second quarter with a hamstring injury. Safety Markquese Bell exited in the third quarter because of dehydration before returning.

The NFL's third regular-season game in Brazil and first in Rio de Janeiro drew an announced crowd of 72,792.

Baltimore will host the Tennessee Titans next Sunday. Dallas will travel to face the Houston Texans.
