Angelo State Cross Country Heads to Lubbock for Texas Tech Open

 

SAN ANGELO, TX — The Angelo State University cross country teams return to action Friday as the Rams and Rambelles travel to Lubbock to compete in the Texas Tech Open.

Angelo State is coming off a pair of third-place team finishes at the Floyd Farms Invitational in Lampasas. Three Rams and five Rambelles finished inside the top 20 individually.

The Rams will open Friday's competition with the men's 8-kilometer race at 8:15 a.m. Angelo State will compete in a 23-team field that includes Lone Star Conference opponents Eastern New Mexico, Lubbock Christian, West Texas A&M and Western New Mexico.

The Rams' scheduled lineup includes Caden Glenn, Alex Hauck, Corey Labbe, Dylan Strand, Morghen Vawter and Javion Zavala.

Hauck and Vawter were named LSC Runners to Watch entering the season. Hauck owns the fastest 8K personal best among the scheduled Angelo State runners at 26 minutes, 31.7 seconds, set at DBU's Old Glory Gallop in 2025.

Glenn has a personal best of 27:01.2, followed by Vawter at 27:08.9, Labbe at 27:21.0 and Strand at 27:32.4. Zavala is scheduled to compete in the first 8K of his collegiate career.

The Rambelles will follow with the women's 6K at 8:50 a.m. Angelo State will compete in a 20-team field that includes LSC opponents Eastern New Mexico, Lubbock Christian, UT Permian Basin, West Texas A&M and Western New Mexico.

Angelo State's scheduled women's lineup consists of Chasity Benson, Lilly Benson, Arianna Rivera, Ashley Stratton and Amira Walton.

Chasity Benson and Stratton were named LSC Runners to Watch. Benson owns a 6K personal best of 23:08.1, set at the 2024 West Side Classic, while Stratton recorded a personal best of 23:35.1 at the same meet.

Lilly Benson has a personal best of 26:47.6, which she recorded at the 2025 Texas Tech Open. Rivera and Walton are each scheduled to run the first 6K of their collegiate careers.

The men's race is scheduled to begin at 8:15 a.m. Friday, followed by the women's race at 8:50 a.m. in Lubbock.
