High School Football Team Ends Nation’s Second-Longest Losing Streak

HUNTSVILLE, AL — An Alabama high school snapped a 101-game losing streak in football Saturday that was the second-longest winless drought in the country.

Columbia High School in Huntsville hadn’t won a game since 2015 before its 41-14 victory over Greensboro.

Columbia actually fell behind 14-0 before scoring the game’s final 41 points.

Some media outlets initially reported that it was the nation’s longest losing streak, but that distinction belongs to the small town of Red Lake, Minnesota, which has lost 150 in a row, dating back to 1999.

Red Lake’s streak is by far the longest streak as Wyoming’s Cheyenne South comes in second with 55 consecutive losses.

The longest losing streak in Texas is Monte Alto’s 54 straight losses. The Class 2A Division I school is located in the Rio Grande Valley near Edinburg.
