RICHARDSON, TX — Angelo State University's women's athletic programs earned the Lone Star Conference Academic Excellence Award for the 2025-26 academic year, the conference announced Monday.
The award, presented annually since the 2013-14 academic year, recognizes the Lone Star Conference athletic department with the highest combined team grade-point average among women's sports.
The honor marks the first time Angelo State has received the conference's women's Academic Excellence Award.
Three Rambelle programs led the conference in team GPA during the 2025-26 academic year and were recognized as Lone Star Conference Academic Team Champions. The indoor track and field team posted a 3.662 GPA, the outdoor track and field team recorded a 3.668 GPA and the tennis team finished with a conference-best 3.782 GPA.
Angelo State also had 46 student-athletes across nine women's sports earn perfect 4.0 grade-point averages during the combined fall and spring semesters, highlighting the university's academic success throughout the year.
The Lone Star Conference Academic Excellence Award has been presented annually for the past 13 years to recognize the conference's top-performing athletic departments in the classroom.
