Texas Player’s Run at WSOP Main Event Ends in 5th Place

LAS VEGAS, NV — Houston’s Han Feng was knocked out of the World Series of Poker Main Event Final Table on Tuesday night in fifth place.

Feng moved all-in preflop with pocket aces, but they were cracked when Lauri Saaskilahti’s pocket nines rivered a straight.

It was a difficult exit for the 27-year-old, but he left the world’s biggest poker tournament with $2.25 million, quite the payoff from his $10,000 buy-in.

Feng began the final table in eighth place and spent much of the opening night Monday in ninth before skyrocketing up to second.

The tournament, which began with 9,208 entrants, is now down to the final two. The heads-up battle for the world title and the $10 million first-place prize will be between Spokane, Washington’s Lucas Jumalon and Finland’s Saaskilahti. Second place will pocket $6 million.

Jumalon has 328 million chips, while Saaskilahti has 225 million.

The final table’s conclusion will be broadcast on ESPN at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday.

San Angelo has its own connection to the Main Event as Brian "Sailor" Roberts won the title back in 1975.
