SAN ANGELO, TX — The Central Bobcats released the football team’s depth chart on Wednesday ahead of their opening practice next week.
After a successful season where the Bobcats finished 8-4 and secured their first playoff win since 2020 with a victory over El Paso Pebble Hills in the bi-district round.
Senior quarterback Micah Smith (6-foot-1, 185 pounds) returns under center this season with a year under his belt and something to prove in 2026.
Other notable names include junior running back Zeyvion Johnson (5-11, 225), senior offensive lineman Ethan Boyd (6-4, 305), and linebacker/tight end Tucker Beaty (6-4, 220).
Other familiar names on the list are running back Darius Huitt, wide receiver Gavin Johnson, linebacker Chris Walker, defensive lineman Riley Oines, and defensive back Troy Ceballos.
One area of note is that UTSA commit Ethan Boyd is listed as injured on the initial depth chart. Jose Ibarra will start at right tackle until Boyd returns to form.
One surprise is the kicking competition. The starting kicker is not 100% decided, but senior Blaine Belcher has the rare opportunity to be both the starting kicker and the starting punt returner for the Bobcats this season.
Two-way players are rare in 6A, but it looks like Tucker Beaty will be one of the few in the state to play both offense and defense this season.
Central opens up the 2026 season at home on Friday, Aug. 28, against Abilene High. Kickoff in that matchup is scheduled for 7 p.m.
