EDEN, TX — Eden High School has named Aaron Maxwell as its new head football coach.
Maxwell spent the last two seasons as the head coach of a rebuilding Crowell team and compiled a record of 5-16, including a playoff trip in 2024 before running into eventual state champion Jayton in the first round.
Maxwell previously served as an assistant coach at Loraine, where he was also the head boys basketball coach.
Maxwell will inherit an Eden team that went 6-4 last year but missed the playoffs.
The Bulldogs were realigned into a difficult district for the next two school years with Menard, Water Valley, Sterling City, Irion County and Veribest in District 8-1A Division I.
Eden returns two players who earned second-team all-district honors last year — sophomore utility back/safety Jorge Mendez and senior punter Gharitt Cogbill.
Jeff Shelton, who spent one year as Eden’s head football coach last year, will remain the school’s athletic director.
