Maverick McIvor to Hold Football Camp in San Angelo

SAN ANGELO, TX — Former Central Bobcats quarterback Maverick McIvor is returning home to host a football camp in San Angelo later this month.

The camp will be held July 17-18 at San Angelo Stadium. The first day is from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., while the second day will be from 9 a.m. to noon.

The cost to attend is $75.

The Maverick McIvor Football Skills Camp is presented by Double S Athletic Camp.

The camp is for athletes from fifth grade to college, and it will include a receivers coach as well.

McIvor played last season at Western Kentucky and was named the MVP of the New Orleans Bowl after coming off the bench to lead the Hilltoppers to a 27-16 comeback win over Southern Mississippi.

McIvor also played at Abilene Christian University and led the Wildcats to their first-ever conference championship at the NCAA Division I FCS level.

After college, McIvor earned invites to rookie minicamps for the Dallas Cowboys and Chicago Bears. He then worked out for the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks, but he remains unsigned.

McIvor graduated from San Angelo Central in 2019. He had a breakout junior season in 2017 in which he threw for 3,415 yards and 43 touchdowns in 12 games, while rushing for 870 yards, to earn scholarship offers from more than 20 NCAA Division I schools, including USC and Ole Miss.

He signed with Texas Tech, but injuries kept him from ever playing for the Red Raiders before he finally had the chance to show what he can do again at ACU and Western Kentucky.
