SEATTLE, WA — The United States Men's National Team continues its 2026 FIFA World Cup run Monday night with a Round of 16 matchup against Belgium at Lumen Field in Seattle.
How to watch USMNT vs. Belgium
- Date: Monday, July 6
- Kickoff: 7 p.m.
- Location: Lumen Field, Seattle

- Streaming: Fox Sports (English), Fox One (English), Peacock (Spanish), FuboTV
The Americans enter the matchup looking to continue their historic run after defeating Bosnia and Herzegovina 2-0 in the Round of 32. The win marked the USMNT's first World Cup knockout-stage victory since 2002 and set up another major test against a European opponent.
The United States received a boost ahead of the match after forward Folarin Balogun's red card suspension was suspended for a one-year probationary period, clearing him to play against Belgium. Balogun received the red card during the second half of the win over Bosnia and Herzegovina, but will now be available after leading the Americans in scoring during the tournament.
Belgium has been granted the opportunity to appeal FIFA's decision, though there is no guarantee a ruling will come before kickoff. Many European fans call foul with the Balogun decision, conveniently forgetting that almost the exact same scenario happened with Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo before the World Cup even began. Ronaldo had received a red card in Portugal's final qualifying match, which was set to rule him out of the opening two matches of the World Cup.
FIFA enacted Article 27 of FIFA’s Disciplinary Code, which states that “the judicial body may decide to fully or partially suspend the implementation of a disciplinary measure.”
The ruling allowed Ronaldo to play during the 2026 World Cup. Now, the same ruling has been made for Balogun.
This is the third time in the last four World Cups that the Belgian "Red Devils" advanced to the Round of 16. Belgium survived a tough Senegal team in the Round of 32, needing two goals in a three-minute span to pull even with Senegal in the waning moments of the match. Then, Youri Tieleman scored a penalty kick in extra time to send the Red Devils through to face USA. The comeback was one of the largest in World Cup history.
