WINK, TX — The Sonora Broncos are heading back to the 7-on-7 state tournament for the fourth straight year.

The Broncos earned a spot in their final chance with a 34-12 win over Iraan on Thursday at a qualifying tournament in Wink.

Axtell earned the other state spot from the tournament with a 53-0 win over Sudan.

With the last two spots secured, the 32-team field is now set for the Division III state tournament June 25-26 in College Station. Division III consists of teams from 1A to 3A Division II.

The D-II state tournament (for 3A D-I and 4A schools) will be held at the same time, while the D-I state tournament (for 5As and 6As) will be held June 26-27.

Sonora will be the Concho Valley’s only representative at state this year. Other teams a little further outside our coverage area that qualified include Wink, Goldthwaite, Coahoma, Hawley and Albany.
