WALL, TX — Wall High School was recently named the 3A winner of the Texas High School Athletic Directors Association's inaugural Texas Cup for the Hawks' and Lady Hawks' athletic performance in the 2025-26 school year.
The THSADA aims to recognize high school athletic programs across the state that exemplify excellence in athletic achievement through its annual Texas Cup award.
Wall finished No. 1 in the 3A standings with 86 points. Corpus Christi London came in second with 82 points, followed by Paradise with 66 points, Holliday with 64 points, and Shallowater, who rounded out the top five, with 61 points.
This past school year, the Hawks and Lady Hawks had a mountain worth of success, including a state semifinal finish in both volleyball and baseball, and most notably, state championships in football and girls' basketball. The Hawks also finished as runners-up in track and field and golf. The Lady Hawks' Amelia Taylor also brought home a state championship in tennis this year. The Wall girls also finished 4th overall in cross country last season. Finally, in tennis doubles, Ava Duncan and Evie Itz contributed a runner-up finish, while Kymbree Hirt and Ella Bowman finished third overall.
The Texas Cup is not affiliated with the University Interscholastic League (UIL), but it includes all UIL member schools that are in good academic and athletic standing.
The award was created to increase awareness of the high level of achievement demonstrated by student-athletes and coaches throughout Texas. The THSADA also seeks to provide public recognition of athletic programs as an integral part of the overall education system.
The Texas Cup evaluates athletic success across all UIL-sanctioned team sports that award state championships. Schools earn points based on their performance at the district, regional and state levels, with a graduated scoring system that rewards advancement beyond district competition.
Awards are presented annually to six schools — one in each UIL classification from 1A through 6A — at the THSADA State Conference in June. Each winning school receives a Texas Cup trophy.
Point totals are verified by the THSADA, and the scoring system is devised and approved by the organization’s Board of Directors.
Eligibility for the Texas Cup includes all UIL member high schools, with final standings based on overall team performance across all sanctioned athletic activities.
