SAN ANGELO, TX — The Central Bobcats football program continues to receive recruiting interest this offseason as tight end Tucker Beaty announced his first college offer Monday from the University of Texas Permian Basin in Odessa.
Beaty, who was a second-team All-District 2-6A linebacker last season, is moving to the offensive side of the ball this year to play tight end.
The 6-foot-4, 215-pound prospect has been busy this offseason, attending camps at schools like the University of Oklahoma, Texas Tech, TCU and SMU.
Last season, Beaty helped the Bobcats go 8-4 and win their first playoff game since 2020.
UTPB has been building one of the nation’s better programs in NCAA Division II. Last season, the Falcons went 11-3 and won two playoff games before losing 34-28 to No. 2-ranked Harding in the national quarterfinals.
Beaty’s teammate, fellow senior Ethan Boyd, committed Monday to play for Division I UTSA.
Other Bobcats receiving college interest include quarterback Micah Smith, who has been offered by Division I Campbell, and defensive lineman Riley Oines, who has been offered by D-III schools Oberlin and Howard Payne.
