Rochelle Names Veirs New Head Football Coach

ROCHELLE, TX — Rochelle ISD has named Paul Veirs as its new head football coach and athletic director.

Veirs arrives at Rochelle from the South Texas town of Bruni, where he coached the Badgers for two seasons — one in 11-man and one in six-man.

Bruni dropped to six-man last year and went 5-6 while playing an independent schedule.

Rochelle, which is located about 10 miles east of Brady, went 4-7 last year and finished as the runner-up in its district before losing in the first round of the playoffs.

Rochelle will compete the next two school years in a district with Brookesmith, Lohn, Cherokee and Richland Springs.

Veirs replaces Matt Maciel, who accepted a new job in the Houston area with his wife, Kelby, who was Rochelle’s volleyball coach.

Veirs has had previous stops at 11-man schools including Pampa, Copperas Cove, Ozona and Honey Grove.
