CHICAGO, IL — Former San Angelo Central star Davis Martin became the first Chicago White Sox pitcher since 2021 to win six straight decisions in his team’s 6-2 victory over the Minnesota Twins on Thursday.
Martin improved to 8-1 this season after allowing only one run and two hits in six innings. He struck out five and walked two.
He became the first White Sox pitcher since Lance Lynn to win six straight decisions and the first to win eight of his first 11 starts since Lucas Giolito in 2019.
Martin has been sensational this year with the third-most wins in the league, the seventh-best ERA (2.00), 12th-best WHIP (0.99) and 22nd-most strikeouts (71).
Martin has helped the White Sox to a 29-27 record a year after they had the second-worst record in the league.
His streak of 20 consecutive starts allowing three runs or fewer is the longest in the league.
The 2015 Central graduate is on a trajectory to earn his first-ever trip to the MLB All-Star Game.
Martin is scheduled to pitch again Tuesday, June 2, at Minnesota.
