SAN ANGELO, TX — San Angelo ISD announced on Monday that Harrison Musgrave, a former Major League Baseball pitcher and Big 12 Pitcher of the Year, has been hired as the Central Bobcats' new head baseball coach.
“Coach Musgrave will be a great addition to the Central Bobcat baseball program,” Athletic Director Rodney Chant said. “His playing experience at the collegiate and professional level, as well as his coaching experience in West Virginia and Texas, stood out among the applicants. We look forward to watching Coach Musgrave at work in the near future.”
Musgrave brings experience in student-athlete development, leadership and program building.
Musgrave, a former Major League Baseball pitcher for the Colorado Rockies, joins Central after serving as an assistant baseball coach and special education teacher at Liberty High School in Lubbock-Cooper ISD. He worked with the varsity pitching staff and led the freshman team.
Drafted in 2014, Musgrave was part of the Colorado Rockies organization until March 2020. Prior to that, he played at West Virginia University, where he was named the 2013 Big 12 Pitcher of the Year and earned second-team All-American honors. He appeared in 45 games as a pitcher for the Rockies in his career.
Musgrave has also coached at the middle and high school levels in West Virginia and has experience in player development and pitching instruction.
