SAN ANGELO, TX — The Lake View Chiefs have found their next boys basketball coach.
Jon-Reese Woodson, who led Class 3A Buffalo to the regional semifinals last season, will try to help Lake View take the next step as a program.
Woodson inherits a Lake View team that went 24-13 last season for its winningest campaign in years, though the Chiefs lost in the first round of the playoffs.
In 2025, Lake View won its first playoff game in 26 years.
Woodson replaces Courtney Bliskey, who had overseen the program since 2016.
Woodson was named his district’s Coach of the Year last season after leading the Bisons to a 22-17 record and two playoff wins.
He previously served as the head coach at Woodsboro and spent four years as a varsity assistant basketball coach at Midland High School.
“I’m incredibly excited for the opportunity to lead the Lake View High School Chiefs as the new head basketball coach,” said Woodson. “This is a special opportunity for me, and I’m truly grateful to join a school and community that takes so much pride in its traditions.
“My goal is to help our players grow both individually and as a team — not just as basketball players, but as young men. I believe in building a program centered around hard work, accountability, discipline and character. We’ll have high expectations on the court, in the classroom and in how we represent our school every day. I’m ready to get to work, invest in our student-athletes and help build something special that the entire Lake View community can be proud of.”
