BIG LAKE, TX — The Wall Lady Hawks saw their season come to an end on Saturday when the ladies dropped an elimination Game 2 to Coahoma in the regional final. The Lady Hawks fought hard, but could not contain Coahoma's explosive offense as Wall fell 11-1.
Wall struck first in this contest in the top of the first inning when Elise Jordan hit a sacrifice fly to center field that scored Jordan Chitsey to give the Lady Hawks a 1-0 lead.
Unfortunately for the Lady Hawks, that run would be the only run Wall would score all afternoon.
Coahoma came back strong, scoring three runs in the bottom of the first, three in the third, four in the fourth, and one more in the sixth to end the game.
Madee Williams gave it her best in the circle for the Lady Hawks, but it was just not meant to be on Saturday. She pitched 3.1 innings before Jordan stepped into the circle in relief. The two ladies allowed 10 hits and eight earned runs while walking seven.
Wall finishes one of its better seasons ever with a 27-9 overall record. The Lady Hawks claimed three playoff trophies before running into Coahoma. Wall even took advantage of a new life after a forfeit by Jacksboro in the area round, which allowed the Lady Hawks to advance. They beat No. 8-ranked Canadian 4-0 to claim a regional semifinal trophy.
Overall, it was an incredibly successful year for the Wall softball program and these ladies should hold their heads high.
