Angelo State Softball’s Regional Opener Postponed Due to Brush Fires

CANYON, TX — The Angelo State softball team’s opening game at the NCAA Division II South Central Regional Tournament was postponed Thursday evening due to diminished air quality as a result of brush fires in Canyon.

ASU’s game against Texas A&M-Kingsville has been moved to noon Friday. If the No. 3-seeded, Belles win, they’ll face No. 2 West Texas A&M at a time to be determined after the Lady Buffs’ 9-0 win over No. 7 Colorado State-Pueblo.

The Belles’ game with Kingsville is a rematch of last week’s Lone Star Conference Tournament final, which ASU won 5-3.

The winner of this week’s regional tournament will advance to next week’s Super Regional with a spot in the College World Series on the line.
