BIG LAKE, TX — Reagan County’s Brooklynn Reyes and Morgan Dodd each signed Wednesday to continue their athletic careers at Wayland Baptist University in Plainview.
Reyes is a softball player who is currently leading the Lady Owls on their best playoff run in program history.
She has a .587 batting average and .658 on-base percentage with 5 home runs, 12 doubles, 2 triples, 31 RBIs and 13 stolen bases.
As a pitcher, she’s struck out 103 batters in 72.2 innings while walking 26 and allowing 34 earned runs.
Reyes is a big reason Reagan County has put together a 21-6 record and reached the regional final, where the Lady Owls will play defending state champion Sundown at 6 p.m. Thursday in Andrews.
She allowed only three hits in six innings last week in a 10-0 win over Clarendon in the regional semifinals.
Dodd led Reagan County’s girls basketball team to a 21-13 record and a first-round playoff win.
The 5-foot-9 shooting guard averaged 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 steals per game while knocking down 44% of her shots and 30% of her 3-point range.
Dodd scored over 1,000 points during her career and also received offers from Western New Mexico, Howard Payne, Southwestern, Austin College and Southeastern Community College.
Wayland Baptist’s softball team reached the National Christian College Athletic Association World Series this season for the first time in program history. The Pioneers will play their World Series opener Monday against Kentucky’s Alice Lloyd College.
Wayland Baptist’s women’s basketball team went 12-16 this past season and lost in the first round of the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament.
