INDIANAPOLIS, IN – The Angelo State softball team has qualified for its 20th NCAA Tournament in program history and will be the No. 3 seed in this week's South Central Regional, the NCAA announced Monday morning during its selection show.
The Rambelles will open the tournament Thursday against No. 6 Texas A&M-Kingsville in a rematch of Saturday's Lone Star Conference Tournament final, which ASU won 5-3 for its eighth LSC Tournament title.
West Texas A&M is the No. 2 seed and will host this side of the regional. The Lady Buffs open against No. 7 seed Colorado State Pueblo.
The other side of the South Central regional bracket features top-seeded Colorado Christian, No. 4 UT Tyler, No. 5 Oklahoma Christian and No. 8 St. Mary's.
The Rambelles enter the postseason with a 46-12 record.
The winners of the two regional tournaments will meet next week in a best-of-three Super Regional for the right to advance to the NCAA Division II College World Series.
