Wall Softball Blanks No. 8 Canadian in Regional Semifinals

LUBBOCK, TX — The Wall Lady Hawks have been given a second chance in the softball playoffs, and they’re making the most of it.

Two days after finding out their season was alive again after Jacksboro had to forfeit Monday’s playoff win due to using an ineligible player, the Lady Hawks shut out No. 8-ranked Canadian on Friday in the Class 3A Division II regional semifinals.

Wall will now march on to the regional final next week against the winner of No. 1 Holliday and the three-time defending state champion, No. 2 Coahoma.

Wall’s Madee Williams was brilliant against Canadian, pitching seven innings of five-hit ball with 12 strikeouts and two walks. Her defense was also error-free behind her.

Wall broke through in the fourth inning when the Lady Hawks scored off a Canadian error.

Williams then helped her own cause with a solo home run in the sixth inning to extend Wall’s lead to 2-0.

The Lady Hawks added a pair of insurance runs in the seventh inning on a double by Jordan Chitsey and a sacrifice fly by Kaimee Smith that scored Emery Harper.

Williams went 2-for-3 at the plate, while Chitsey went 2-for-4. Harper was 1-for-3.

Canadian’s Maddlynn Longoria held Wall to only five hits in seven innings, but the Lady Hawks capitalized in big moments, and her offense didn’t give her any support. Her defense also committed two errors.

Canadian’s season ended with a record of 24-8. Wall improved to 28-5.
