TYLER, TX — The No. 2-seeded Angelo State baseball team let a seven-run lead slip away Friday against UT Tyler, and the Rams are now on the brink of elimination at the Lone Star Conference Tournament.
ASU held a 7-0 lead against top seed UT Tyler after the top of the third inning, but the Patriots stormed back to take the lead after a five-run seventh inning put them on top 10-8.
They added one more run in the eighth inning to complete an 11-8 win.
UT Tyler (42-10) is now in the driver’s seat to claim the tournament title as it needs to win only one more game Saturday.
ASU (39-16), meanwhile, will have to get past No. 5 Lubbock Christian on Friday night, and then beat UT Tyler twice Saturday.
If ASU can survive Friday, the Rams’ first game against UT Tyler is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday in Tyler.
