SAN ANGELO, TX — TLCA San Angelo has found its next head football coach and athletic director.
The school announced Thursday that Robert Ontiveros has been hired to fill both roles.
Ontiveros really stepped down after two years in the same roles at Crane, where he had a record of 12-11, including a 6-5 mark last season that included a first-round playoff loss to Grape Creek.
In 2024, Ontiveros guided Crane to a 6-6 record and a playoff win.
Ontiveros’ first day at TLCA will be Monday, April 20.
Ontiveros previously worked with a successful program at Class 4A Monahans. He is an alumnus of Angelo State University.
Ontiveros inherits a TLCA program that has struggled in recent years, including back-to-back winless seasons.
TLCA recently lost head football coach Bradley Oh and athletic director Kent Sherill after a disciplinary workout session resulted in 20 student-athletes visiting the hospital and eventually suing the school.
