WALL, TX — Kellan Oliver went 4-for-4 with two home runs to lead the No. 5-ranked Wall baseball team to a 15-1 win over Clyde on Tuesday.
Oliver’s big day at the plate led a Hawks’ offense that produced 14 hits in only four innings.
Meanwhile, Wall pitcher Gage Reichenau allowed only three hits to keep Clyde’s offense at bay.
It was the 16th win in a row for Wall, which improved to 20-8 overall and 10-0 in District 6-3A.
The defending state champion Hawks began the year 4-8 while stacking their schedule with Class 6A and 5A opponents, but they appear to be in top form as they prepare to soon head into the playoffs.
Wall will host Abilene High at 6:30 p.m. Friday before a pair of huge games against No. 1 Jim Ned (21-0, 8-0) — at home at 7 p.m. April 17 and on the road at 7 p.m. April 21.
Other Wall players who produced multi-hit games Tuesday included Jacob Braden, who was 3-for-4, and Hagyn Barbee and Kyler Oneal, who were each 2-for-4.
Oliver only had one HR on the season entering the day. He now has a .398 batting average with nine stolen bases.
Wall had a much-closer 6-3 win at Clyde last week, but the Hawks jumped out to a 10-0 lead by the end of the second inning Tuesday.
