SAN ANGELO, TX — The Central Bobcats dropped a district matchup to Odessa Permian at home on Thursday, 8-0.
Despite a close contest in the first half of the contest, the Panthers took advantage of the last four innings to take a commanding lead.
Permian struck early off of two, two-out singles that helped load the bases at the top of the 1st inning. A walk drove in the first run, and the Panthers took a 1-0 lead. Permian would add two runs at the top of the 4th, three at the top of the 5th, and one each at the top of the 6th and 7th innings to beat the Bobcats.
Central struggled on offense, managing only two hits throughout the game. Michael Duran and Judson Bright were the two bright spots for the Bobcats' offense. Both went 1-2 at the plate, but Central never managed to capitalize on those hits with runs.
Trevor Koehn pitched 4.5 innings for the Bobcats. He allowed seven hits and six runs in his outing on the mound. He also walked five and struck out three.
Next up, the Bobcats travel to Odessa on Friday to play a doubleheader against Permian. First pitch in the 2-game matchup is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
