Angelo State Hosts 54th Annual David Noble Relays this Weekend

 

SAN ANGELO, TX — Angelo State’s track and field teams will host the 54th annual David Noble Relays this week at LeGrand Stadium.

The three-day meet begins Thursday and runs through Saturday, featuring multi-events, field events and track finals. Saturday’s events will be streamed on FloCollege.

Competition opens Thursday with the heptathlon at 2 p.m., followed by the decathlon at 3 p.m.

Friday’s schedule begins at 1 p.m. with the conclusion of the multi-events. The triple jump and shot put are scheduled for 5 p.m., while the steeplechase will be the lone track event at 7 p.m.

Saturday’s events begin at 12:30 p.m. with running preliminaries. Field events, including the hammer throw, javelin and long jump, will also begin at that time.

Last time out, Angelo State recorded 10 provisional qualifying marks last weekend at the Wes Kittley Invitational, hosted by Abilene Christian.

Esma Pajt posted a provisional mark in the hammer throw, while Kaylee Price improved her time in the 400-meter hurdles.

Francis Patanpatan, the Lone Star Conference Runner of the Week, finished second in the 200 meters and was part of winning 4x100-meter and 4x400-meter relay teams.

Notable rankings

The Rams’ 4x400-meter relay team of Francis Patanpatan, Karl Patanpatan, Adrian Nethersole and Taylor Briggs ranks No. 1 nationally with a time of 3:10.44.

Angelo State also holds top-10 marks in multiple events, including:

  • No. 2 in the 4x100 relay (39.91)
  • No. 2 in javelin (Ekaterina Fedetova, 50.39 meters)
  • No. 2 in hammer throw (Marie Schuler, 57.10 meters)
  • No. 4 in the 200 meters (Francis Patanpatan, 21.00)

Additional top-10 performances include Dayvon Williams (high jump), Vanam Sharma (discus and shot put), Jonathan Wright (pole vault), Esma Pajt (hammer throw), Kaylee Price (400 hurdles) and Jaime Moreno (javelin).

Honors

Freshman William Opare continues to lead Angelo State’s success, earning Lone Star Conference, regional and national indoor track athlete of the year honors.

The David Noble Relays will bring multiple collegiate programs to San Angelo as the outdoor season continues.
