Lake View’s Reyes Takes 3rd at State Powerlifting Meet

 

EDINBURG, TX — San Angelo Lake View’s Bella Reyes took third place Thursday in the unequipped division at the state powerlifting meet at Bert Ogden Arena in Edinburg.

The unequipped division is for lifters using the minimal supportive gear. Reyes was the top finisher among Class 4A participants in her weight class. The two girls ahead of her competed in 6A and 5A.

Reyes lifted 355 pounds in the squat, 155 pounds in the bench press and 315 pounds in the deadlift for a total of 775 pounds.

The only other area lifters in the unequipped division were Miles’ Josephina Llanas, who was eighth in her weight class (195-100-270 — 565), and Coahoma’s Lillian Orosco, who was 10th (215-135-315 — 665).

Results from the 3A Division I state meet Thursday are still unavailable. The 4A D-I state meet, which includes Lake View, will be held today.
