WALL, TX — The Wall Hawks opened up District 6-3A play with a commanding win over TLCA San Angelo in Wall on Tuesday night. The Hawks led early and completed the shutout to claim a 29-0 win.
"I saw some good things out there," Wall's Head Coach Jeremy Gordon said after the win. "Pitchers got out there and threw strikes today. I saw a lot of guys get some quality at-bats and hunt their pitches. They did a good job with that."
Wall jumped out to an early lead in the bottom of the first inning after Jaboc Braden hit a double that scored one. Wyatt Jost then hit an RBI-single to score two more. The early barrage continued when Jack Jeys hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, before Reid Ballard walked with the bases loaded to score one more. The inning finally came to an end after an error allowed two more Hawks to cross home plate. Wall led 8-0 headed to the top of the second inning.

After a quick three-up and three-down on defense, Wall's offensive explosion continued. In the bottom of the second, the Hawks hit several home runs on their way to a 12-run inning.
The Hawks hit a total of five home runs in the contest. Hagyn Barbee, Kellan Oliver, Lawson Dankworth, Reid Ballard and Stephen Laney all hit one out of the park in the contest.
To TLCA's credit, the Eagles never gave up. Several pitchers saw action in the 4th and 5th innings, but it was never enough to stop the Hawks. Wall claimed victory after five innings, 29-0.
Defensively, TLCA put the ball in play, but Wall proved too tough on defense. Kyler Oneal made several plays at third base that turned potential hits into outs.

"They also played well defensively behind them when the ball was put in play," Gordon continued. "We had a couple of really good plays made at third base by Kyler Oneal. Great to have him back from an arm injury. Just a great start to open up district."
Jost started the matchup on the mound for the Hawks and claimed the win. He gave up no runs on one hit through two innings of work before he stepped off the mound for the night.
The Hawks finished the game with 22 hits, 24 RBIs and 29 runs.
Next up, the Wall Hawks travel to Abilene to play in the Abilene ISD Invitational tournament this weekend. The Hawks' first matchup is against Arlington Sam Houston at Abilene Cooper on Thursday. First pitch is scheduled for 12:30 p.m.
