Angelo State’s Beck Named National Hitter of the Week

SAN ANGELO, TX — The No. 11-ranked Angelo State University baseball team added another national accolade with senior Austin Beck named the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Hitter of the Week on Thursday morning.

Beck was a red-hot 10-of-16 at the plate with two walks and only two strikeouts during a four-game series against Sul Ross State.

The Allen native accounted for 40% of the Rams' run production, scoring 12 times while driving in 10 runs.

Beck now leads the Lone Star Conference with eight doubles, and he’s tied atop the conference in RBIs (19) and steals (7).

Beck and the Rams will be back in action this weekend when they host Oklahoma Christian in a four-game series set to begin at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, at Foster Field at 1st Community Credit Union Stadium.
