SAN ANGELO, TX — Angelo State’s Kamryn Williams was named the Lone Star Conference Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week for her performance this past weekend at the Jarvis Scott Open in Lubbock.
Williams recorded the best weight throw among NCAA Division II competitors at the meet with a throw of 58 feet, 8.5 inches. The weight throw is considered the indoor equivalent to the outdoor hammer throw.
Her throw ranks 21st in the country in Division II this year. She is the first Rambelle to earn a weekly award this season.
While at Wall High School, Williams won the bronze medal at the 2023 UIL State Track and Field Meet in the shot put. She also graduated as the volleyball program’s all-time leader in kills.
Williams will compete again at the LSC Indoor Championships on Feb. 27-28 in Albuquerque.
