SANTA CLARA, CA — Super Bowl Sunday is right around the corner, and many football fans from around the country will tune in to see the Seattle Seahawks take on the New England Patriots at Levi Stadium this weekend.
Game Details:
- Seattle Seahawks (14-3) vs. New England Patriots (14-3)
- When: Sunday, Feb 8
- Where: Levi Stadium in Santa Clara, CA
- Kickoff: 5:30 p.m.
Vegas has the Seahawks coming into this game as 4.5-point favorites over the Patriots, with the over/under set at 45.5 points.
While the Patriots have the same overall record as the Seahawks this season, New England has also played arguably one of the easiest NFL schedules in recent memory. Added to that, Seattle's high-octane offense features the NFL's Offensive Player of the Year, Jaxson Smith-Njigba, and quarterback Sam Darnold, who threw for over 4,000 yards this season.
This game will come down to whichever defense plays best and generates the most turnovers. New England's quarterback, Drake Maye, had a lackluster AFC Championship game versus the Denver Broncos last week, and the Seahawks may cause even more trouble for the young QB. However, never count out the Patriots' defense. New England allows 18.8 points per game this season and needs to find a way to make Sam Darnold uncomfortable early.
Probably the NFL's most well-rounded team this season, Seattle also features a stellar lineup on the defensive side of the football. While the Seahawks allow more yards per play on average than the Patriots, much of that can be attributed to playing in one of the toughest divisions in the NFL (NFC West). Playing the NFL's MVP (Rams' Matt Stafford) three times this season definitely did not help Seattle's defensive statistics, but the Seahawks still managed to do enough to beat Los Angeles in the NFC Championship and make it to Super Bowl LX.
Game Prediction:
Ultimately, the game will come down to the Patriots' ability to shut down Seattle on offense. If New England can do that, the Patriots have a solid chance at hoisting another Lombardi Trophy on Sunday. That is a tall order. The Seahawks get their revenge for Super Bowl XLIX on Sunday and claim the victory, 27-21.
