SAN ANGELO, TX — San Angelo Central senior Jaekob Jackson has committed to play football at West Texas A&M University in Canyon.
Jackson, a 5-foot-10, 205-pound linebacker/safety, announced his decision on X on Wednesday.
Jackson has been a first-team all-district player the last two seasons. Last year, he had 82 tackles, six tackles for loss, one sack, five pass breakups and an interception to earn All-Cover 1 honors and lead the Bobcats to an 8-4 record and a first-round playoff win.
Earlier this month, Jackson played in the Blue-Grey All-American Bowl, where he shined with two INTs.
Jackson also received NCAA Division II offers from Gannon and Seton Hill before settling on West Texas A&M, which is a rival of Angelo State in the Lone Star Conference.
Jackson’s commitment isn’t binding as he hasn’t officially signed yet. National Signing Day is Wednesday, Feb. 4.
