ARLINGTON, TX— The Dallas Cowboys are working on a deal to get a new defensive coordinator from inside the NFC East.
According to reports from NFL Insider Ian Rapoport, the Dallas Cowboys are set to fill their vacant defensive coordinator position with Christian Parker, who is the Philadelphia Eagles' secondary coach and passing game coordinator.
Parker has worked for Virginia State, Norfolk State, Notre Dame and Texas A&M in college, and Green Bay, Denver and Philadelphia in the NFL.
Parker has a Super Bowl ring from last year when the Eagles beat the Kansas City Chiefs, 40-22.
With the Eagles, Parker worked with Vic Fangio and helped develop Cooper DeJean, Quinyon Mitchell and Reed Blankenship.
The Dallas Cowboys fired former defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus after a horrid season and, while they had other names on their wish list, it looks like they’ll land Parker, though the deal is not done as of yet.
