Angelo State Softball Debuts at No. 13 in National Rankings

SAN ANGELO, TX — The Angelo State University softball team will open the 2026 season at No. 13 in the NCAA Division II national rankings.

The Rambelles went 47-14 last year and reached the regional final before falling to Lone Star Conference rival West Texas A&M.

They lost some key players from that team, including two All-Americans — pitcher Cheyenne Floyd, who graduated, and shortstop Laylonna Applin, who transferred to Ole Miss.

ASU’s returners are led by All-American outfielder Tatiana Trotter.

The Rambelles open their campaign in Conroe at the DII First Pitch Invitational on Jan. 30. ASU will make its first home appearance Feb. 6-8 at the George and Ola McCorkle Challenge.

An ASU conference rival, two-time defending national champion UT Tyler, is the unanimous preseason No. 1-ranked team, followed by Tampa, Western Washington, Pace, Saginaw Valley State, North Georgia, Shippensburg, West Texas A&M, Augustana and Francis Marion.
