RICHARDSON, TX — Angelo State sophomore Majik Esquivel has been named the Lone Star Conference Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.
Esquivel, a Lubbock native majoring in commercial aviation, earned the award after powering the Rambelles to a two-game road sweep in Oklahoma. She scored 27 points in a victory over Cameron before exploding for a career-high 38 points against Oklahoma Christian.
For the weekend, Esquivel shot 47 percent from the field and went a perfect 13-for-13 at the free-throw line. She also totaled seven rebounds, three steals and an assist across the two wins.
Angelo State returns to action Tuesday, Jan. 13, when the Rambelles host UT Permian Basin at the Junell Center–Stephens Arena. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
