Turnovers Cost the Chiefs Against Lubbock-Cooper Liberty

SAN ANGELO, TX — The Lake View Chiefs could not match Lubbock-Cooper Liberty’s defensive pressure at Lake View High School on Friday night.
Relentless defense by the Patriots led to multiple turnovers and easy baskets as the Chiefs fell 64-45.

Jackson Funk led all scorers during the contest with 23 points.

The Patriots jumped out to an early lead off an 8-0 run to begin the game. Lake View battled back in the 2nd quarter but still trailed by 7 points headed into the break.

In the 3rd quarter, Liberty ramped up the pressure once again, pulling away from the Chiefs headed to the 4th. Lake View had a game-high 16 points in the 4th quarter, but the Patriots were just too far ahead for a comeback. The Chiefs fell, 64-45.

Xavier Castro led the Chiefs with 11 points in the contest, followed by Braylon White, who added 9 points.

Lake View moves to 17-9 overall and 0-2 in a tough district with the loss. Meanwhile, Lubbock-Cooper Liberty kept pace with district leaders at 2-1 and 17-4 overall with the win.

Next up, the Chiefs travel to Snyder on Tuesday to face off with the Tigers. Tip-off in that matchup is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
