NORMAN, OK — Former Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten has accepted his first college coaching job, agreeing to be the tight ends coach at the University of Oklahoma.
Witten has spent the last five years as the head coach of Liberty Christian School in Argyle. He led the football team to back-to-back state titles in 2023 and ‘24.
Witten’s son, Cooper, is the nation’s No. 1 linebacker prospect for the Class of 2027.
Witten, 43, spent 16 seasons with the Cowboys and retired as the franchise’s all-time leader with 1,215 catches and 12,977 receiving yards.
He was an 11-time Pro Bowler and has been named a finalist for the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s 2026 class.
Witten joins an Oklahoma program that went 10-3 last season and lost in the first round of the College Football Playoffs.
Witten will replace Joe Jon Finley on head coach Brent Venables’ staff.
Wittin is the second former Cowboy coaching with the Sooners, joining DeMarco Murray, who is their running backs coach.
