Central Bobcats Earn 6 First-Team All-District Selections

 

SAN ANGELO, TX — After a breakthrough football season, the Central Bobcats had six players named to the All-District 2-6A first team.

Central’s selections were running back Zeyvion Johnson, tight end Casner Stribling, wide receiver Colton Hill, offensive lineman Ethan Boyd, linebacker Mason Van Sickle and safety Jaekob Jackson.

Those players helped lead the Bobcats to an 8-4 record for their first winning season since 2019. They returned to the playoffs for the first time since 2022 and won their first-round game over El Paso Pebble Hills before falling in the second round to No. 1-ranked Southlake Carroll.

Central’s second-team selections were quarterback Micah Smith, running back Darius Huitt, wide receiver Jimmy Edwards, offensive lineman Brayden Suiter, punter/kicker Caleb Holbert, defensive lineman Brayan Sandoval, linebacker Tucker Beaty and cornerback Troy Ceballos. 

Central’s honorable mention picks were tight end Judson Bright, running back Elijah Allen, wide receivers Gavin Johnson and Gabriel Garcia, offensive linemen Parker Havercroft, Cristian McAlister and Israel Martinez, defensive linemen Riley Oines, Colton Kent and Oscar Herrera, linebackers Chris Walker, Kash Jastrow and Davis Darby, and safeties Bryson Sanders and Noah Rogers.

The district co-MVPS were Frenship wide receiver Chase Campbell and Odessa Permian quarterback Jakob Garcia.

District champion Permian, which lost in the regional semifinals to Allen, took many of the top awards.

The Offensive MVP was Permian running back Gavin Black, while the Defensive MVP was Permian linebacker/safety Caleb Jamison.

The Offensive Newcomer of the Year was Permian’s Aaron Navarette, while the co-Defensive Newcomers of the Year were Midland Legacy’s David Ihediwa and Permian’s Malachai Mendoza.

Permian also won Coaching Staff of the Year.
