SAN ANGELO, TX — The Angelo State volleyball team continued its red-hot play with a 25-21, 26-24, 25-23 win over UT Tyler on Friday in the semifinals of the Lone Star Conference Tournament.
It was the 10th straight win for the top-seeded Belles, who will play No. 2 seed Lubbock Christian at 3 p.m. Saturday in the championship match.
ASU improved to 23-7, but it didn’t come easy Friday in a match that was tense from start to finish.
Senior libero Ireland Ferguson recorded her 1,000th career dig during the match with a 13-dig performance.
Madi Parrish bounced back from an off night in Thursday’s quarterfinal with 15 kills and nine digs.
Julia Hopkins recorded 10 kills for the second consecutive match, and Demi Carter added nine kills.
Cate Boldrick did not commit an error, converting four of her nine swings for kills. Hannah Spencer had three kills and led the Belles with six blocks.
Gabi Ashcraft led the Belles with 19 assists, and Madison Scrivner recorded 14 assists.
ASU will find out its fate for the regional tournament at 6:30 p.m. Monday during the NCAA Division II Selection Show. The Belles were No. 5 in the most recent regional rankings, while Lubbock Christian was No. 7.
