Angelo State's Parrish Named LSC Player of the Year

SAN ANGELO, TX — The Angelo State volleyball team claimed nine Lone Star Conference awards, highlighted by junior outside hitter Madi Parrish being named the LSC Player of the Year.

Parrish joins fellow Boswell High School product Kailyn Gilbreath as the only Belles to be named LSC Player of the Year.

Parrish was also named the conference's Offensive Player of the Year, marking the fifth time in program history and the first since Gilbreath did so in the 2021 season.

Parrish recorded her most efficient season of her career, posting a .263 attack percentage. She is averaging 3.63 kills per set and has eclipsed both the 1,000-career kill and the 100-career ace marks, becoming the sixth player in program history to reach both milestones.

Joining Parrish on the first team is fellow All-American Demi Carter. The 2024 AVCA National Freshman of the Year, who missed the first 17 matches due to injury, emphatically returned to the lineup, averaging 2.89 kills per set on a .307 attack percentage.

Her return has coincided with the Belles' strong second half. The Belles are 10-1 since the Bridge City product returned from injury.

She has recorded five matches with double-digit kills, including a career-high 20 in a four-set win over West Texas A&M on November 1st.

A pair of Belles – Ireland Ferguson and Julia Hopkins – were named to the All-LSC Second Team.

Ferguson, the Belles' senior libero, earns her first all-conference award in her career. The Floridian is averaging 4.14 digs per set while anchoring one of the best defenses in the LSC.

She has six matches this season with 20 or more digs and has recorded four double-doubles.

Hopkins, a product of Austin, has experienced a breakout sophomore season, averaging 3.03 kills per set on a .247 attack percentage.

She has recorded double-digit kills in 13 matches this season, including a career-high 18 kills twice.

Senior middle Cate Boldrick was named an All-LSC Honorable Mention.

She earns her first all-conference award after setting a new career high with 143 kills and 76 blocks this season.

The Austinite, who is hitting .274 this season, recorded a season-high 12 kills against Cameron on Oct. 4 and had five matches in which she hit .500 or better.

Outside hitter Raelee Allen was named to the conference's all-freshman team, having solidified her place in the Belles' rotation.

Hitting .220 on the season, she had a career-high 15 kills in the Belles' five-set win over Dallas Baptist on Oct. 25. Allen is averaging 1.64 kills and 0.59 blocks per set.

The Belles enter the 2025 LSC Tournament with a 21-7 record and a 15-2 mark in conference play. They play eight-seed Texas A&M-Kingsville at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Junell Center.
