SAN ANGELO, TX — The Angelo State University football team had its hopes of returning to the playoffs ended Saturday with a 31-7 loss to Western Oregon in the Rams’ home finale.
ASU entered the game with a chance to still sneak into the postseason if it could earn a couple of impressive wins in the final two weeks over Western Oregon and West Texas A&M.
Unfortunately, the Rams suffered their worst loss of the season after falling into a 21-0 late in the second quarter.
ASU’s offense managed just 197 yards and committed three turnovers.
The Rams fell to 6-4 overall and 4-4 in Lone Star Conference play.
ASU began the year as the defending LSC champs and raced out to a 4-0 start, climbing as high as No. 6 in the NCAA Division II national rankings.
Since then, the Rams have struggled to a 2-4 record.
ASU will complete its season on the road next week in Canyon against West Texas A&M.
