FRISCO, TX — The Dallas Cowboys made a major splash before the trade deadline on Tuesday, acquiring star defensive tackle Quinnen Williams from the New York Jets and Logan Wilson from the Cincinnati Bengals to help bolster the defense.
"It's exciting," Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer said of Dallas' trades. "Kudos to Jerry and Stephen, Will, being aggressive but then smart. A couple of moves we made, you're getting guys not just for this year but beyond, which I think is great… I think it's two terrific players, but also terrific young men."
The Cowboys acquired Williams in exchange for a 2026 second-round pick, a 2027 first-round pick, and defensive tackle Mazi Smith, according to reports from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Tom Pelissero, and Mike Garafolo.
New York will receive the higher of the Cowboys’ two first-round picks in 2027, as Dallas owns both its own and Green Bay’s first-round selections following the Micah Parsons trade earlier this year.
As for Logan Wilson, the Cowboys gave up a 2026 7th-round draft pick for the Bengals' Linebacker.
Dallas hopes that these trades will inject some jet fuel into a defense that ranks near the bottom of the league in almost every category.
